Stephanie von Spreter, PhD, is an art historian, researcher, curator, and consultant based in Oslo.

Stephanie von Spreter has over twenty years of experience as a professional in the field of contemporary visual art in Norway and internationally, including curating exhibitions, seminars and conferences, writing, editorial and academic work, consulting, and management of large-scale exhibitions and projects.

Her expertise entails photography, Nordic/circumpolar art and artistic practices engaging with AI. Her research lies at the intersection of contemporary artistic practices, art history, posthuman feminism, decolonial and cultural theory, and Arctic and environmental humanities discourses. She has curated a large number of contemporary art exhibitions and published extensively in leading academic journals, anthologies, artist books and exhibition catalogues.

Stephanie von Spreter previously served as artistic and managing director of Fotogalleriet, Oslo, and worked for international exhibitions including the 3rd, 4th and 5th Berlin Biennale, the 50th Venice Biennale and Documenta11. She holds a PhD in Art History from UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, an MA in Contemporary Art from Manchester University/Sotheby’s Institute and a BA in Art History from UCL University College London.
